The Bank of the Islands/Edison National Bank is partnering with the SCCF Coastal Watch program to present the Annual International Coastal Cleanup on Saturday, September 21 from 8-11am.

As in years past, the bank will have a substantial team of employees, family members and friends contributing their time and “sweat equity” to pick up trash and collect data. The Cleanup organizers at SCCF’s Coastal Watch and Keep Lee County Beautiful will then forward the collected data of more than 1,000 volunteers to Ocean Conservancy, where it will be analyzed and may have an impact on future environmental public policy.

Bank of the Islands will also be providing a post-Cleanup lunch for volunteers at SCCF’s Bailey Homestead Pavilion.

“It’s been our pleasure to underwrite this annual thank you event for the hardworking Cleanup volunteers,” said Bank of the Islands/Edison National Bank President Robbie Roepstorff. “This year, we’d like to extend a special thank you to Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille for creating a great menu for our celebration of island conservation!”

The local Coastal Cleanup efforts are coordinated in partnership by SCCF and Keep Lee County Beautiful as part of the Ocean Conservancy’s International Coastal Cleanup, the largest volunteer effort of its kind. According to the Ocean Conservancy’s worldwide data, 17 million volunteers have cleaned 350,000 miles of shoreline collecting more than 350 million pounds of trash in the more than 35 years of this international effort.
