The Charitable Foundation of the Islands (CFI) is honored to announce that we have been recognized as the Organization of the Year for 2024 by the Sanibel Captiva Chamber of Commerce. This accolade underscores our commitment to philanthropy, community collaboration, and leadership in supporting those in need on the islands.
Executive Director Dolly Farrell extends her deep gratitude to the generous donors who have contributed a total of $1.5 million in funds since Hurricane Ian made landfall. These vital contributions were made possible through the Sanibel Captiva Recovery Fund and our donor-advised fund partners, enabling CFI to provide crucial support to nonprofits serving our community.
In addition, over $1.8 million has been distributed to SWFL businesses through the Hospitality Cares Fund thanks to the hard work of SanCap Chamber’s Alex Bustamante. Alex’s position was made possible through a CFI grant
“This is the true definition of community collaboration, philanthropy, and leadership,” says Dolly Farrell. “We have come together and helped one another out, demonstrating the spirit of unity and generosity that defines our island community.”
CFI is immensely grateful for the invaluable support and solidarity shown by our nonprofit colleagues during challenging times. Through mutual aid and support, nonprofits have exemplified the power of unity and collective action in addressing critical needs and fostering resilience in our community.
