SANIBEL, Fla. (January 27, 2021) – The Clinic for the Rehabilitation of Wildlife (CROW) weekly Virtual Speaker Series presented by LCEC continues on Tuesday, February 9 with “Living with Burrowing Owls” by Beverly Saltonstall, Volunteer for Cape Coral Friends of Wildlife .
Cape Coral has the largest population of Burrowing Owls (Athene cunicularia floridana) in Florida, with an estimated 1000 nesting pairs and upwards of 2500 burrows within the city limits. While the owls are quite tolerant of humans, their homes are still being threatened. Come out to learn about their habitat and hunting characteristics so you can cohabitate with this remarkable species.
Virtual Speaker Series programs begin at 4:00pm and are approximately one hour in length. The talks will be presented using Zoom and are limited to 100 participants so advanced registration is required. Admission per device is $10 plus applicable taxes and fees. Beverly is a 20-year charter member of CCFW a group of dedicated volunteers who are advocates for the Burrowing Owls and other wildlife of Cape Coral. She is a retired nurse who became involved with the group shortly after moving to Cape Coral from New Jersey.
