Attention locals of Lee, Collier & Charlotte Counties! During the month of September, Tarpon Bay Explorers is offering a 25% discount on all rentals and guided tours. September is a slower month in Southwest Florida which provides local residents an opportunity to experience “Ding” Darling while dodging the busy times of year.

Residents of Lee, Charlotte & Collier County can enjoy a variety of activities “Ding” Darling’s concession has to offer. Locals can paddle a kayak through the mangrove tunnels of Commodore Creek or ride a bike rental through the heart of the refuge on Wildlife Drive. Residents can look for dolphins and manatees with a bird’s eye view on a paddleboard. Fishing opportunities include pontoon boat rentals, fishing charters or Hobie pedal-drive kayaks. The back-bay waters of the J.N. “Ding” Darling National Wildlife Refuge have an awesome diversity of fish that can please any novice or experienced angler.

For those with a thirst for knowledge, guided tours are led by a trained and insightful naturalist. Guided tours are great experiences to help you either hone in on local flora and fauna or if one is just curious about what you’re observing. A naturalist’s trained eye and education will help visitors spot wildlife that may go unnoticed at first glance.  “We hope residents come and take advantage of the discounts,” said Manager, Adam Sauerland. “The island is a great place to day trip and we have a gem of a spot on the island to do fun, water and land-based activities,” exclaimed Sauerland. Locals can also launch their own watercraft between the hours of 8am-4pm with a small launch fee.

What better way to enjoy the off season than by exploring local waters within one of the most beautiful places in Southwest Florida without the crowds or lines. Kayak, canoe, paddleboard & bike rentals are first come, first serve between 8am-4pm. Hobie fishing kayaks and pontoon rentals require a reservation. Reservations are recommended for all tours as well. Please bring your I.D. to verify your residency.
