The Captiva Island Yacht Club will host a free public program presented by the Sanibel‑Captiva Conservation Foundation (SCCF), offering community members an opportunity to hear the latest scientific research on local seagrass decline.

SCCF’s Marine Lab staff will present current findings on macroalgae and its potential role in the loss of seagrass in Southwest Florida waters. The program will explain why healthy seagrass is essential to marine ecosystems, water quality, and the overall health of our coastal environment.

This program is free, open to the public, and designed for residents, boaters, and anyone interested in protecting our local marine resources.
