Does a spirited casting competition sound like fun? How about buying raffle tickets from a bejeweled mermaid? Or maybe you can dig deep to help us “build” a truck for SCCF’s Coastal Watch Program? These are just some of the ways Watch Party guests can get in on the fun on Sept.29.
We invite all guests to participate in Whitney’s Casting Challenge! Whitney’s Bait & Tackle is sponsoring a casting competition during The Watch Party for a chance to go head-to-head with Whitney and have your name put on the Golden Rod Trophy – an honor reserved for only the ultimate caster!
Participants will get a chance to qualify for the ‘Cast-Off’ during the first hour of the event. Just $25 will buy you three casts (no limit on how many casts you can purchase), with a goal of getting it in or as close to the target as possible. After the qualifying hour, the five best casters will get a chance to compete against each other to determine who will go against Whitney for the Golden Rod Trophy and bragging rights. The final showdown between our Cast-Off champion and Whitney will determine who will be crowned the Ultimate Caster and win the Golden Rod Trophy – until next year that is…
“This will be a spectacle not to be missed, as we have a lot of fun surprises and should we say… disadvantages to place upon our casters,” said Coastal Watch Director Kealy McNeal. “Spectators will have a chance to get in on the action, so make sure to have some $20’s in your wallet!”
Maybe trucks are more your thing? Well that’s great, because “the Watch needs some Wheels”! We hope guests can help us “whip up a pickup” for the Coastal Watch department. The dedicated Coastal Watch staff have been “borrowing” vehicles from other SCCF departments to conduct their amazing work. But it’s reached the point that enough is enough. We need to put an end to this thievery and get Coastal Watch a truck of its own. Whether it gets named the Mangrove Mobile or the Shuck Truck, a dedicated vehicle is definitely needed!
Watch Party guests can help purchase a truck by “building” one, part by part at the event. Truck parts will be available for purchase on a scale of values, so bring your credit cards and purchase parts like a tire or an engine – even spark plugs – for the cause. Come be a PART of the fun!
Fancy owning a gorgeous necklace worn by Sanibel’s very own Mermaid Realtor Valerie Tutor at The Watch Party? Congress Jewelers has designed a custom diamond mangrove necklace exclusively for Coastal Watch supporters. The unique pendant, made of 14-karat gold and diamonds, will be given away to one lucky winner during The Watch Party. Valerie will be selling tickets that will present the necklace to one lucky winner and half the drawing proceeds to another lucky ticket holder.
Can’t make it to the party? Anyone can purchase tickets for the drawing — $20 for one chance or $50 for three chances by following the ticket link below. The necklace has a retail value of $1,300. The design will be available at Congress Jewelers after the event and can be made with or without diamonds. Congress Jewelers has been contributing a portion of the sale proceeds with SCCF since Earth Day and will continue to do so.
Tickets to a downright good time for Coastal Watch are available while supplies last at https://sccf.org/the-watch-party. The Watch Party will take place rain or shine on Friday, September 29 from 5:30-9 p.m. at SCCF’s soon to be reopened headquarters property at 3333 San-Cap Road on Sanibel.
