The traffic jams are diminishing and vaccination rates are going up.  Hopes are high that we will all be able to return to old routines soon, and for many that means a return to the pleasure of dining out again.  Your local Kiwanis Club is happy to assist by releasing the popular “Diner’s Delight” 2 for 1 Coupon Books for 2021.  With a lot of pent up demand for eating out, the books are proving to be a hot item this year.

The “Diner’s Delight” Books are available now, and its coupons are valid for use beginning Saturday,  May 1.  The Books can be obtained for a $40 contribution and contain coupons good at 30 different Island restaurants and eating places.  Coupons are good for a free entrée with the purchase of another entrée of equal or greater value.  The savings for those who dine out often can be significant.

The Books are available at numerous locations, including Bailey’s General Store, Bank Of The Islands, Sanibel –Captiva Community Bank, Island Pharmacy, Pack & Ship, the Periwinkle Park Office, or from any Kiwanis Club member.   More information on securing a Coupon Book can be found at the Club’s website: www.sanibelkiwanis.org.

In addition to the savings provided to the public, the Coupon Books serve two other important purposes.  First, using the coupons and patronizing our local eating places shows support for our Island restaurant community.  Sanibel and Captiva are blessed with having a vibrant restaurant scene, and this past year has been a rough time for these establishments.  Nothing says “Thanks for hanging in there” better than having the public return to patronize their businesses.  Commenting on the coupon program, Kiwanis President Bill Hay said : “Our restaurants make this community a better place, and the Club is glad to do what we can to help them get back to normal.”

Businesses participating in the 2021 “Diner’s Delight” program include:  Blue Giraffe, Bubble Room, Captiva House, Cielo, Crow’s Nest, Doc Ford’s (Sanibel & Captiva), The Dunes, Island Cow, Island Pizza, Jerry’s Café, Joey’s Custard, Lazy Flamingo (Sanibel & Santiva), Matzaluna, Mudbugs, Sand Dollar, Sanibel Deli & Coffee Factory, Sanibel Sprout, Key Lime Bistro, RC Otter’s, Sunshine Seafood, Cantina Captiva, Subway, Sunset Grill, Thistle Lodge, Timbers, Tipsy Turtle, Traders and T2.

The other important role played by the “Diner’s Delight” program is that all proceeds are used by the local Kiwanis Foundation to support its Scholarship Program for Island students and its grants to programs providing  education and recreation activities for local youth.   The Kiwanis mission is “serving the children of the world”, and here on the Islands that means helping local kids.
