While Hurricane Ian managed to shut down many local businesses and events, the Kiwanis Club’s annual Diners Delight 2 for 1 Coupon Booklets will be available again this year. Distribution will begin April 1 for the popular Booklets, and coupons can be used from May 1 through mid-December. They can be obtained at numerous Island banks and businesses or from any Kiwanis member, for a $40 donation. That investment is quickly offset when several coupons are used, and for those who eat out often the savings can be substantial.
The Diners Delight program is designed to encourage Islanders and visitors to try new restaurants and
dine out more, and to help local businesses to add customer traffic during the slower months of the
year. This year, that mission has become more important than ever, as many restaurants have been
forced to close due to storm damage and due to the reduced population during restoration.
The list of participating restaurants will be finalized in the coming weeks, and any businesses who are interested in being a part of the program are encouraged to call Kiwanis Program Chair Dave Essig at 315-391-6230 to reserve a position in the Booklet.
Said Kiwanis Club President Jeff Blackman: “This year the Diners Delight program can be a major help to our local restaurant community as they get back on their feet. So we encourage everyone to get their hands on a booklet, call some friends and head out to dinner!”
The Kiwanis Club uses the funds raised by the Diners Delight program, along with its annual Spaghetti Dinner and King Of The Rock Golf Tournament, to sustain its major scholarship program and other Kiwanis education and recreation grants benefiting local Island youth. All funds raised are used to serve our Island community, so those who support these programs can feel good about benefitting multiple causes that make our Islands special.
