FORT MYERS, Fla. (Feb. 28, 2020) – Minnesota Twins players, coaches and alumni joined baseball fans and business sponsors Feb. 13 at the 22nd annual Minnesota Twins Celebrity Golf Classic at The Club at Gateway to raise $76,000 for the Integrative Medicine Program at the Regional Cancer Center.
The event included golf with Minnesota Twins players, lunch, on-course refreshments, and hole-in-one prizes. A dinner followed the tournament for players and non-players that included cocktails, delicious food and the opportunity to bid on exclusive silent auction items.
Proceeds from the Golf Classic support the Integrative Medicine Program at the Regional Cancer Center, Southwest Florida’s premier cancer care center that treats all aspects of patient care under one roof. The Center’s Integrative Medicine Program, created in response to higher rates of cancer survival and patients living longer, incorporates traditional services like physical rehabilitation, peer counseling and dietician services with therapies such as acupuncture, reiki and others. The Center has received accreditation with commendation from the American College of Surgeons’ Commission on Cancer.
“We are inspired by the continued support of the Minnesota Twins, the Club at Gateway, and all of the volunteers who made this tournament possible,” commented Chris Simoneau, chief foundation and development officer, Lee Health. “Funds raised through the event will benefit our most challenged neighbors and friends, those that need our support as they battle cancer and receive treatment at the Regional Cancer Center of Lee Health. We are eternally grateful that the Twins continue this great partnership.”
