The Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club’s November 2025 meeting will take place on Sunday, November 16th at the Sanibel Recreation Center. Dr. Jose’ Leal, Science Director and Curator of the Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum and Aquarium will present a discussion of the new and improved Great Hall of Shells at the Museum.

Dr. Leal is the editor of The Nautilus, a scientific journal about mollusks, and was recently featured on the PBS show Changing Seas on the episode “Mollusks: More than a Shell.”

All 2025 – 2026 Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club meetings will be held at the Sanibel Recreation Center at 3880 Sanibel Captiva Road, on Sanibel Island. A silent auction will be held from 1:30 – 1:55 PM in the Osprey room. The remainder of the meeting will be held in the Pelican room, beginning at 2 PM. This meeting is open to the public, and free of charge.

The Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club awards grants from the proceeds of its annual shell show held in March. Grants are given towards education and research in the fields of conchology and malacology, as well as for conservation and water quality projects, primarily in Southwest Florida.
