Right before Christmas, the Periwinkle Park team came together to help a red‑shouldered hawk that had become entangled in fishing line near the Sanibel River. Thanks to the quick thinking and careful work of our staff, the hawk was safely freed and released back into the wild.

This experience is a meaningful reminder of the importance of properly cleaning up fishing line and gear to protect Sanibel’s native wildlife. At Periwinkle Park, being stewards of the land and caring for all the animals that live here is part of our daily commitment.
