Periwinkle Park has been a family-owned and family-run trailer park & campground for 60 years, thanks to the dedication and vision of the Muench family. Now in its third generation, the Muench family continues to own and manage the property, ensuring that Periwinkle Park remains a vital part of the Sanibel community for at least another 60 years.
The Muench family has made a significant impact on our island community. Al Muench served as the temporary city manager after the City of Sanibel was incorporated and was an active member of the Chamber of Commerce. Dick Muench founded the Sanibel Little League and dedicated over 30 years to nurturing young athletes in the community. Dick also founded the SanCap Kiwanis Club, which is still going strong 50 years later. Jerry Muench, a volunteer fireman, ran for City Council in 1982 and contributed to the Planning Committee for four years. He was elected to the City Council in 1986, serving for eight years and playing a crucial role in shaping the future of Sanibel.
Periwinkle Park is not just a campground; it is a testament to the Muench family’s commitment to the island and its residents. Their legacy of service and community involvement has enriched the lives of many and continues to inspire future generations.
