R. S. Walsh Landscaping donated and installed 250 Native Seashore Paspalum grasses, 70 Seacoast Marsh Elders and 250 Sea Purslane to help protect and enhance the beach at the end of Sanibel-Captiva Road, near Blind Pass. The grasses will help prevent erosion and improve water quality at the newly-installed San-Cap Road Beach Protection Project conducted by the City of Sanibel.

“We are proud to help enhance this project, and the city has done an excellent job of executing the project in a fast-tracked manner to protect the roadway,” said Jeremy Walsh, R.S. Walsh project manager. “With the current city budget constraints, we felt this was a way for us to lend our assistance and provide a level of environmental stewardship that we strive for when working on the islands.”

In addition to these donated grasses, R. S. Walsh has also completed Section 1 of the San-Cap Protective Vegetation Plantings located at the same beach location. The primary goal of this project is to stabilize the sand, prevent erosion and possible washouts of the roadway.
