This past week, the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club hosted their Installation Dinner at the beautiful Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium, celebrating their outgoing leadership and welcoming their incoming leadership. The new board, who will begin their duties July 1st, was installed, with President-Elect Paul Hawkins receiving the gavel from President Rachel Tritaik.
Many worthy Rotarians were recognized for their commitment and dedication to Rotary. Eldon Bohrofen received a 50 Years of Rotary Service award. Tommy Williams received an Honorary Lifetime Membership to the Sanibel-Captiva Rotary Club. Mark Brislin and Alison Hussey received 25 Years of Service awards, Paul Prestia received 10 Years of Service award and Don McDonald received his 5 Years of Service award. Barb Ellis, Bill Harkey, Chet Sadler and Maria Espinoza received Service Above Self awards. Recognition certificates were awarded to Rotarians including Committee Chairs, Board Members and Trust Board Members. Holly Smith received the Vocational Service Award, which is given to an outstanding Non-Rotarian in the community. She also received a Paul Harris Fellow Award for her service. Dignitaries were in attendance from District 6960 Leadership, including Dennis Wallace, District Governor Nominee, and Annie Campbell, District Governor Nominee-Designate.
The awards dinner was sponsored by Rotarians in Business on the Islands, including Mary Bondurant with Kingfisher Realty, Scot Congress with Congress Jewelers, Darrin Grotrian with Sanibel Captiva Trust Company, Teddy Joyce with Sentry Hill Legal LLC, David Lowden with Bank of the Islands, and Rachel Tritaik with Island Therapy Center.
