This past week we were visited by some very familiar faces, John Lai of the Chamber of Commerce and Andrea Miller of the Recreation Center. They have both been very busy planning for the 50th Anniversary of the incorporation of the City of Sanibel! Starting November 2024 and running through Luminary December 2025, Sanibel and the Chamber are planning a 13-month celebration in partnership with island businesses, non-profit and faith-based organizations, and resident groups. On November 5, a time capsule that many of us have probably walked right by at City Hall, will be opened as a way to kick off the celebration. Fingers crossed that it was sealed well with our most recent history of hurricanes!
Be sure to keep an eye out for the celebration events to be happening throughout the year, just google 50 years of Sanibel to be directed to the site.
The Sanibel-Captiva Rotary will be holding hybrid meetings both on Zoom and in person at the Community House, 2173 Periwinkle Way. Doors open at 7:30 a.m., the meeting begins at 8:00 a.m. For more information about Rotary, please visit sanibelrotary.org. All are welcome!
