SanCap Kiwanis Club, a local service organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and families, expressed its appreciation to Kati Chapman Sherrard, the project manager and lead engineer of the Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT), for speaking at its recent meeting. Kati and her team were responsible for temporarily restoring the Sanibel Causeway, which was severely damaged by Hurricane Ian three weeks prior.
Kati shared her experience and challenges of leading the emergency repair project. She said the damage was “devastating and immediately impactful” upon seeing it after the storm. She also praised the cooperation and support of the local, state and federal authorities, businesses, and residents, who helped expedite the recovery process.
The members of the Kiwanis Club were impressed and inspired by Kati’s presentation, which demonstrated her professionalism, leadership, and dedication to public service. The club’s president, Joel Goodman, thanked Kati for her valuable contribution to the community.
