SanCap Kiwanis was pleased to welcome Jean Baer as our speaker this week. Jean is a co‑owner of the Sanibel Island Farmers Market and a fellow Kiwanis member.
Jean shared how farmers markets have become more than just places to shop. They bring people together, support local vendors, and create a space where neighbors and friends can connect. She spoke about seeing more families and multiple generations attending the market and how that sense of community continues to grow.
She also shared exciting news about the opening of a new downtown Fort Myers market, which welcomed 3,000 people on its first day.
Jean offered a behind‑the‑scenes look at running multiple markets and the balance of welcoming new vendors while keeping longtime favorites.
It was an enjoyable presentation that highlighted the value of local farmer’s markets and community connection.
