The SanCap Kiwanis Club was pleased to welcome Scott Sheets, Director of Page Field with the Lee County Port Authority, along with Erin Croop, Marketing Coordinator for Page Field, as our speakers of the week. Scott and Erin shared a fascinating look at the history and continued growth of Page Field, which has been a cornerstone of aviation in Southwest Florida for nearly a century.
Originally opened in 1924 as a golf course, Page Field evolved into a mail route and later served as a military base before becoming a major airport in 1961. Today, it handles more than 170,000 operations each year with a dedicated team of 44 staff members and contributes significantly to the local economy. The airport has also earned multiple awards for excellence in general aviation.
Erin Croop spoke about the importance of Page Field’s role in the community and how it continues to connect people, businesses, and opportunities across the region.
Scott highlighted how Page Field continues to serve as a hub for education and community engagement, offering tours for groups—especially students—to inspire interest in aviation careers. He also discussed the airport’s collaboration with RSW on expansion efforts and its ongoing mission to promote Page Field as a premier general aviation facility for the region.
The SanCap Kiwanis Club would like to thank Scott Sheets and Erin Croop for sharing their time and insights.
