The Sanibel Captiva Young Professionals  (SCYP)  is excited to announce its first “Welcome to the Islands” event, hosted in partnership with the Sanibel Public Library District and F.I.S.H. of SanCap.

The welcome event will take place on Monday, June 16, from 5 – 6:30 p.m. at the Sanibel Public Library.

Organized in an open-house format, this gathering offers a casual and welcoming environment for young people on the islands to connect with crucial community resources, peers, and free or affordable ways to enjoy the island outside of work.

Refreshments and light bites will also be provided to attendees thanks to the partnership with F.I.S.H. and the Library.

SCYP Advisory Board Member, Skye McDonald developed this event with the hopes to bridge the gap she experienced as an intern in the summer of 2022. “The island can be overwhelming to newcomers,” McDonald reflected. “We are excited to give young professionals the opportunity to explore the programs and resources our island non-profits and organizations have to offer. I hope this event will help seasonal workers, interns, and ‘new-ish to the island’ young professionals have easy access to the resources, support, and connections of our wonderful community.”

Both the Sanibel Public Library District and F.I.S.H. of SanCap are proud to partner with SCYP in helping create an inviting and resource-rich event for the community. Both organizations will have island resource information available for pick-up throughout the week of the event.
