The Sanibel Flyfishing Club is pleased to announce the awarding of a scholarship to Jolie Alberty, a dedicated and promising Environmental Science graduate student at Florida Gulf Coast University. Jolie recently attended the club’s monthly meeting, where she engaged with members and listened to an insightful presentation on beach fishing.

Jolie is currently studying under Dr. Melissa May, focusing her research on the effects of environmental stressors on marine invertebrate physiology, with a particular emphasis on bivalves. Her work involves conducting hard clam surveys in Pine Island Sound as part of a larger analysis study on hard clam and seagrass cohabitation sites. With both field and lab experience, along with strong managerial skills, Jolie is a quick learner who is always eager to embrace new experiences.

The Sanibel Flyfishing Club is thrilled to support Jolie in her academic and research endeavors. We are confident that her work will contribute significantly to our understanding of marine ecosystems and environmental conservation.
