March 3, 2021 – A group of more than 20 Sanibel Historical Village volunteers gathered recently to begin planning – and crafting – for the upcoming holiday season. The month-long event is called “Timelines, Trees, and Special Memories” and will feature fun and educational decorations in each of nine historic homes.
“Each building will have a special timeline of all the generations and purposes it served,” explained Gayle Pence, one of the program’s chairs. “The tree decorations and the displays will reflect the unique purpose, events and items that showcase each building’s memorable past.”
This program will share history and decorations that have never before been shared by the Historical Village.
More than 40 volunteers are involved with this project doing extensive research and making special ornaments and displays. These decorations will be displayed for the Village’s special holiday events.
The Sanibel Historical Village is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesdays through Saturdays. The village is located at 950 Dunlop Road (next to BIG ARTS). Admission is $10 for adults 18 and older; those under 18 and members are free. Due to the COVID pandemic, docent-guided tours are available by reservation only for groups of no less than six and no more than 10 and are based upon docent availability. All CDC guidelines are being followed, with masks required and social distancing in practice. There is handicap access at the village.
