The Bailey-Matthews National Shell Museum & Aquarium is pleased to announce four new Trustees with terms beginning in 2025: Laurie Chouinard, Jason Halliburton, Brad Shingleton, and Josh Stewart. The Museum also honors past Trustees Roger Grogman, Tiffani Kaliko, and Kate Sergeant, whose service concluded at the end of 2024, and Laura Shaffer who served as Board President in 2024 and remains a Trustee.
Laurie Chouinard had three careers: education, industry, and financial services. In 2016 she
sold her investment business in the Private Client Group at Wells Fargo Advisors, Greenville, DE after managing family resources for hundreds of families over 18 years. She received BS and MS degrees in Home Economics from the University of Delaware. Laurie and her husbandfirst purchased property on Sanibel in 2014. Laurie volunteers as a Touch Pool docent at the Museum.
Jason Halliburton is Chief Operating Officer at Bring Fido, the world’s leading pet and travel lifestyle company, which was founded by his wife Melissa in 2004. Jason has been COO for 15 years and oversees sales, customer service, marketing, and strategic initiatives. Prior to Bring Fido Jason was an attorney, and he earned his law degree from William & Mary in 2002. He and Melissa moved to Sanibel in 2020 with their son Jackand are active volunteers in the community.
Brad Shingleton retired to Sanibel in 2022 after decades helping to lead Ophthalmic Consultants of Boston, one of the pre-eminent ophthalmology clinics in the world. Brad had appointments at Massachusetts General Hospital and Tufts New England Medical Center, among other institutions, and was a Professor in Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School. Brad and his wife Barbara are active in the island community and regular attendees of Shell Museum programs.
Josh Stewart moved to Sanibel with his family in 1986 when he was 8 months old and grew up on the island. He has over 20 years of experience operating, hosting, and presenting at his parents’ company, Adventures in Paradise Cruises. He is the owner of two Sanibel retail stores: AIP Outfitters and the children’s store A Little Adventure, as well as a third location in downtown St. Petersburg. Josh has volunteered with several island non-profits over the years including the Shell Museum, Community Housing and Resources, The Children’s Center of the Islands, The Sanibel School, and is currently a board member at Sanibel Community Association.
