Did you know that shell collecting is the second most popular collecting hobby in the world?  Only stamp collectors outnumber shell collectors!

The word “seashells” is synonymous with Sanibel, and shell enthusiasts have come from across the United States, and from Canada, Europe, New Zealand, India, Japan and the Caribbean to the Sanibel Shell Show to compete in the most prestigious, competitive shell show in the country.  When you win an award at this strictly juried show, it means that you have reached the top!

In 2019, ribbon winners came from 60 different cities in 23 different states, and from four different countries.  This year’s Sanibel Shell Show will be held on Friday and Saturday, March 8th and 9th at the beautiful Marriott Sanibel Harbour, just before the causeway to Sanibel Island. There will be shells from around the world displayed in amazing scientific exhibits and in exquisite works of art, as well as world class shell vendors.  This new location enables shell lovers to experience even more shell items!  It will be like nothing you’ve ever experienced before!

The 2024 Shell Show welcomes you to its new venue from 9am – 4pm, offers free on-site parking, and no tolls are required.  A $5.00 cash donation is requested to attend the Show, and attendees will receive a bag of locally collected shells with their donations.  The Marriott Sanibel Harbour is located at 17260 Harbour Pointe Drive, in Fort Myers.

The Sanibel-Captiva Shell Club awards grants from the proceeds of this annual show.  Grants are given towards education and research in the fields of conchology and malacology, as well as for conservation and water quality projects, primarily in Southwest Florida.  For more information about the annual sow, or to join the club, please visit the shell club’s website at http://sanibelshellclub.com.
