The status of the ongoing Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW) Terminal Expansion Project, the second-largest public works project in Lee County history, will be the topic of the SanCap Chamber business luncheon meeting on Wednesday, Feb. 21, starting at 11:30 a.m. at Sanibel Harbour Marriott Resort in Fort Myers.

Benjamin R. Siegel, executive director and CEO of Lee County Port Authority (LCPA), will speak along with Steven Hennigan, who will serve as interim executive director when Siegel retires April 1. Stevens Construction will sponsor the meeting, which the chamber hosts in partnership with Florida Restaurant & Lodging Association (FRLA).

“Ben last addressed chamber membership about the three-year project back in January 2022, and now we will learn how plans are progressing,” said SanCap Chamber president and CEO John Lai. “He will let us in on the impact the new expansion will have on tourism and other business in our area.”

Siegel started his career with LCPA in the finance department in 1992 as accounting manager and later advanced to finance manager, finance director, and deputy executive director of administration before his final promotion in November 2019.

He holds a bachelor of science degree in business administration from the University of South Florida and is a certified public accountant. A member of the American Association of Airport Executives, Siegel is also a member of the Florida Airports Council, Airports Council International-North America, Florida Institute of Certified Public Accountants, and the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Hennigan has served as deputy executive director and chief operating officer for LCPA since May 2021.

The chamber business lunch is a monthly networking opportunity held at various member locations. The chamber strives to provide speakers to discuss business topics relevant to the membership. The public is invited; SanCap Chamber members receive meeting invitations by email. Cost for luncheon attendance is $35.

Advanced registration is required to attend; walk-ins are not accepted. Register by 5 p.m. on Friday, Feb. 16, at sanibel-captiva.org or by contacting Aaron Walton at [email protected] or 239-472-8759. Payment is due at time of registration.
