SanCap Cares announces that The Sanibel Captiva Trust Company will again serve as presenting sponsor of its 24th Annual Island Celebration — a March 14 gala at The Community House Sanibel, with the theme “Tropical Nights” — to benefit Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida.

“This is an exciting year for our islands and the San Cap Cares event,” said Sanibel Captiva Trust Company Founder and Chairman Al Hanser. “Residents old and new are continuously coming to the islands, and the restoration and growth of our community is happening very quickly. So, we must be ready and able to care for the babies and children who need the help of our health care system. We are honored to continue our sponsorship of this year’s event, which will bolster that help.”

This year, Golisano Children’s Hospital of Southwest Florida is asking for support to build the Golisano Children’s Hospital Surgery Center adjacent to the main campus. This addition will benefit patients, families, and surgeons alike. The surgery center aims to provide a calming environment for standard procedures such as tonsillectomies, adenoidectomies and ear tube placements, freeing up resources for pediatric neurosurgery, trauma cases, fractures and more.

The themed festivities for the event will include culinary tastings and a signature cocktail to accompany the “Give to Give” auction of items to support the hospital’s programs. The celebration will culminate with a five-star dinner and entertainment by The Bay Kings Band.

“We are so excited to be back together as a community in the wake of Ian, helping to bring world class health care here to our children,” SanCap Cares Committee member Valerie Tutor said. “We invite the entire island community to find their own way to support these critical services at Golisano Children’s Hospital.”

Since its inception in 2001, the Sanibel-Captiva community through SanCap Cares has raised over $18 million to support the hospital. “The generosity of the residents and businesses of Sanibel and Captiva Islands has been instrumental in providing critically needed support for Golisano,” said Justin Brand, director of development for the Lee Health Foundation. “Through the years, the support from SanCap Cares has strengthened and continues to provide needed resources for our tiniest patients.”
