Doc Ford’s Rum Bar & Grille Fort Myers Beach employees recently participated in the 9th Annual Tunaskin Beach Keepers Club beach cleanup event. Part of Tunaskin Aquatic Apparel, the Beach Keepers Club started as a way to connect and give back to the community and clean up local beaches.

“We are delighted to volunteer and support part of such an important initiative in our community,” said Joe Harrity, a partner with HM Restaurant Group, which owns and operates Doc Ford’s and Dixie Fish Company on Fort Myers Beach. “This is the first year Doc Ford’s has participated in this beach cleanup event, and we plan to continue participating and supporting Tunaskin Aquatic Apparel’s mission in future beach cleanup events.”

Ryan Cook, the general manager for Doc Ford’s on Fort Myers Beach, played a major role in Doc Ford’s involvement in this year’s beach cleanup event. Cook’s passion for this mission inspired many Doc Ford employees to volunteer in this year’s event.

In 2016, Tunaskin Aquatic Apparel created Beach Keepers Club and held its first beach cleanup event on Fort Myers Beach, where 86 people participated. This month, over 350 volunteers helped clean up Fort Myers Beach and the Beach Keepers Club raised $5,000 in donations for Keep Lee County Beautiful.

Doc Ford’s also donated 350 meals for the volunteers who participated in the event. The employees cleaned up various trash on Fort Myers Beach, including a flat screen TV.

The Beach Keepers Club has an upcoming beach cleanup in Sarasota on March 17 and in Key West on April 14.
