Community Housing & Resources (CHR) received two nominations for this year’s INCredible Awards for outstanding positive impact in the community.

CHR is nominated for Nonprofit Of The Year. This award recognizes a nonprofit organization that is seen as a leader in Lee, Collier, or Charlotte County in the nonprofit sector, according to SWFL Inc. Formed in 1979, CHR provides affordable housing for families and individuals who work and who serve the Sanibel-Captiva communities.

Also, CHR Executive Director Nicole McHale is a finalist for Citizen Of The Year. This award honors an individual who has demonstrated an outstanding commitment to the betterment of Southwest Florida. A Sanibel resident for 30 years, McHale has played a strategic role in CHR’s fundraising efforts for many years. In addition to her leadership role at CHR, which she has held since May 2023, she serves as chair for the Sanibel Public Library District’s Board of Commissioners, has been an active volunteer and board member for F.I.S.H. of Sanibel-Captiva for 10 years, and has served in the roles of board chair and secretary.

McHale said these nominations affirm the dedication and focus of the entire CHR staff. “Our team brings their unwavering commitment every single day to service, mission and the people we serve,” McHale said. “As an organization, we’re deeply honored. As part of the team, I’m proud of every person I get to work alongside.”
