The IMAG History & Science Center is holding its Annual Community Day on Saturday, August 14, 2021, from 10 AM to 5 PM with half-off admission all day.  IMAG Community Day will feature a Hurricane Preparedness Seminar presented by NBC2 and its meteorology team at 10:30 AM and a Q&A at 11:30 AM including a visit from the NBC2 Doppler Radar Storm Tracker Truck.  In addition, the Lee County Sheriff Department will be joining us as they present their Bomb Robot, which is able to dismantle an explosive device, while Fort Myers Emergency Responders will also join us on Community Day.  Lee Health Foundation and Barbara’s Friends, helping kids with cancer, will also be in attendance along with their tech partner, D3 creative studios, as they highlight their leading-edge technology for enhancing patient experiences during treatments.

In addition, the IMAG will be presenting its updated, virtual reality Fort Myers, giving guests an opportunity to go back in time, and other features including an exciting Science on a Sphere show along with an IMAG Live Science Show, IMAG Live Animal Show, Meet-the-Keeper encounters in the animal lab, and our popular SEA-to-SEE Touch Tank stingray encounters.  Also, during the day, guests will enjoy our many other inspiring hands-on activities, exciting exhibits and displays, and prospect for various types of fossils like trilobite, shells, ammonite, shark teeth, sea urchin spine, and more in the Caloosahatchee Fossil Hunt.  And don’t forget, you’ll want to take time to visit the various IMAG food stations for a variety of delicious offerings.

Adding to the fun of Community Day, you will want to attend all three new 3D movies showing in the IMAG big-screen theater.  First, discover the majesty and magnificence of the largest animal ever to walk the earth, the titanosaur.  Titanosaur 3D is a movie that explores the life, history, and environment of long-necked sauropods from egg to towering titan.  Second, Journey to Space: Next Stop Mars is a behind-the-scenes look at space exploration and what it will take to send astronauts to Mars within the next 20 years.  Third, with Aircraft Carrier: City at Sea, you will find yourself aboard the USS Ronald Reagan alongside 5,000 highly skilled sea and air personnel conducting flight operations during maritime training exercises.

Besides discounted, half-off admission, the IMAG is also offering guests special discounted IMAG memberships during Community Day.  The IMAG History & Science Center is located at 2000 Cranford Avenue, Fort Myers FL 99316 and can be reached at 239-243-0043 or on the web at www.theIMAG.org.
